San Francisco 1962 - Dennis Hopper
Dennis Hopper Lot #150
San Francisco (license plate/"abstract expressionism") 1962
Gelatin silver print; Ed. 7/15
24 x 16 in. (63.5 x 40.64 cm.)
Dennis Hopper (b. 1936, Dodge City, KS) was a prolific director, photographer, painter, and sculptor who blurred the boundaries between art, film, and pop culture and captured the classic 1960's pop imagery that symbolizes Los Angeles during that time. His art has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, The Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York.

Owen Maigret's work & The Grateful dead
Loved the flyer above and looked it up. The image is painted by Owen Maigret, an influential San Francisco artist that moved to Panama city to start a reggeaton record label ( Conquering Lion Sound'z) and has a funky early-on rave and Haight Ashbury background. Anyway, his image reminds me of how much I really love all the Grateful Dead imagery. Such a pity the tradition of mixing painting and music kinda lost its way, it was such a very good trip ...
